Our StoryLittle Coconut, the textiles company named after a boat, inspired by a journey across the sea. The Journey In September 2016 newlyweds Miranda and Hugh set sail from the Channel Island of Jersey on ‘Little Coconut’ a 32 foot Tahitian cutter. They crossed the Bay of Biscay then the Atlantic, passed through Panama and island hopped the Pacific, washing up 14 months later on a Queensland beach in Australia. Salt in the Stitches The fabrics from ‘A Honeymoon at Sea’ are all inspired by Little Coconut’s journey, real places and real colours, every small detail has been experienced first hand. The pace of life on a sailboat and the close connection to nature were major influences behind creating these textile designs. Founder Prior to life on Little Coconut Miranda worked as a textile designer and completed an MA in textiles at the Royal College of Art. Throughout her life travelling has been a great source of inspiration and creativity, documenting new places in sketchbooks and photographs. Having sold the boat in Australia Miranda and Hugh moved back to Jersey and started a family. She now works out of her barn studio in an old Farm house.
